How to order from Amazon to Denmark in 2026

Blocked at checkout because a seller won’t ship to Denmark? This guide shows the practical fixes – change your address settings, filter the right marketplace, use app settings and forwarders, and avoid surprise import costs.

Key facts

  • Best marketplace for Denmark: Amazon.de for fastest delivery and cheaper shipping inside the EU.
  • Typical delivery: 2-7 working days from Amazon.de; longer from Amazon.co.uk / .com. (Varies by seller.)
  • Watch for VAT and customs on goods imported from outside the EU – costs appear at checkout for many sellers.
  • If a seller won’t ship, options are package forwarders or buying from a seller that ships to Denmark.

Does Amazon ship to Denmark?

Short answer: yes – but it depends which Amazon marketplace and which seller. Amazon.de (Germany) and many EU-based sellers can ship directly to Danish addresses. Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com can ship too, but Brexit and international shipping rules mean some sellers or products (especially electronics, batteries or regulated items) will refuse delivery or add import charges at checkout.

When a product page shows “Ships to Denmark” or offers AmazonGlobal, you can usually order without extra tools. If the product page blocks shipping, you get one of two situations: seller restriction (they choose not to ship) or import restriction (item is illegal or restricted to import). For electronics, batteries, and specialised items check the product description and the seller’s shipping policy before buying.

Set a Denmark default address (the one-click address method)

Make Denmark your default delivery address so Amazon shows only items that can reach you. This reduces checkout surprises and hides many sellers that won’t ship.

  1. Sign in to Amazon on desktop or mobile web.
  2. Go to Your Addresses (Account & Lists > Your Addresses) and add your Danish address, including valid postal code and phone number.
  3. Set that Denmark address as the default delivery address.
  4. Enable 1-Click ordering if you want faster checkout (Account > 1-Click Settings). This is optional but ensures the site uses your Denmark address for shipping checks.
  5. Switch language/currency to your preference – on Amazon.de you can change to English and EUR or DKK display in the footer. This helps when comparing prices across marketplaces.

Note: setting a Denmark default does not magically make every seller ship here, but it will filter product lists so you see items available for delivery to Denmark first. If you are trying to order from UK sellers, make sure the seller explicitly lists Denmark as a destination after Brexit changes.

Use the double-filter approach: marketplace + seller checks

When one-click and address defaults still show blocked checkout, use a two-step filtering method to find items that actually ship to Denmark.

  • Start searches on the most appropriate marketplace: use Amazon.de for EU-sourced items, Amazon.co.uk only if the seller shows shipping to the EU, and Amazon.com for goods not available in Europe (expect higher shipping and import costs).
  • On the product page, check the seller line under the Buy box. Click the seller name to view shipping destinations and return policies. If “Ships to Denmark” is not listed, the item will likely fail at checkout.

If a direct seller won’t ship, options are:

  • Choose a different seller listed on the same product page that does ship to Denmark.
  • Use a reputable package forwarder (address in Germany, UK, or US) that accepts international shipments and then forwards them to Denmark. Forwarders can add handling fees, import paperwork and complicate returns/warranty claims, so weigh the trade-off carefully.

Tip: For electronics, compare the final landed cost with local options – sometimes it’s cheaper and simpler to buy electronics in Denmark because of warranty and returns.

Place orders through the Amazon shopping app

The Amazon app follows the same rules as the website, but app settings can be quicker to adjust. This is the practical checkout flow on mobile:

  1. Open the app and check the delivery address shown at the top of the Home screen – tap it to switch to your Denmark address.
  2. Search for the product. On the product page, check the seller and the “Deliver to” field – the app will often show a delivery estimate and whether the item ships to Denmark before you add to cart.
  3. Add to cart and tap Proceed to checkout. Confirm the Denmark delivery address, choose shipping speed, and check the order summary for taxes and import fees.
  4. Choose payment method. If you prefer contactless options, learn how to pay with your smartphone in Denmark – some cards or mobile wallets may be blocked by non-EU sellers.
  5. Place the order and keep the order confirmation email or app tracking number for returns and customs queries.

When (and if) Amazon will open a dedicated Denmark store

Amazon has not launched a Denmark-specific marketplace at scale. Amazon Web Services (AWS) operates in Copenhagen and Amazon sells into Denmark from nearby EU marketplaces, but a dedicated amazon.dk storefront with Danish prices and local Prime has not been rolled out as of 2026. Industry rumours surface periodically, but there’s no confirmed launch date.

What to expect when ordering from Amazon to Denmark

Expect a mix of outcomes depending on seller and marketplace:

  • Delivery speed: fastest from Amazon.de and EU-based sellers (2-7 working days). International sellers add transit time and possible customs holds.
  • Taxes and import fees: if buying from outside the EU you are likely to pay VAT and sometimes customs duties; Amazon sometimes collects an import fee deposit at checkout but not always – check the order summary.
  • Returns and warranty: returns are easiest with Amazon-sold/fulfilled items. For third-party sellers or forwarders, returns can be complicated and expensive. EU consumer rights apply, but cross-border logistics mean longer processing times.
  • Tracking and support: Amazon’s tracking is usually reliable for Amazon-fulfilled shipments. For third-party couriers and forwarders expect more manual tracking steps.

Tip: If shipping costs push the price up, compare total landed price (item + shipping + import fees) with local stores and marketplaces – sometimes local purchase wins when you factor warranty and returns.

Before you order

1) Add and set your Denmark address in Amazon. 2) Check the seller ships to Denmark and read the import-fee estimate at checkout. 3) If ordering electronics, compare with local options for warranty and returns.

    • Hi Lone,

I’m sorry to hear about your order being returned. Unfortunately, Amazon’s delivery policies can sometimes be affected by factors like stock availability or shipping restrictions. You might want to check if the book is available from other sellers on Amazon or try alternative bookstores like AbeBooks or Book Depository.

I hope you find a solution! Let me know if I can help further.

      Best regards,

  3. Do you know how to receive parcels to a drop-off point rather than an address in Copenhagen? We are travelling around and wish to order a special food for our dog which the local vets can order in, but it takes 1-2 weeks and costs 4 times the price of ordering online.

  4. Hej Kristian
